Gym life: 23.2

Second Open Workout on tap this weekend. Did it Friday at 5pm. Unplanned. Happened to be in the gym with a PT client and, when I finished, I realized Dauntless was in the 5pm class and available to judge me. Seized opportunity to get the job done. Tested out the Thruster, a 1 rep max attempt in 5 minutes. Could not get arms locked out properly overhead, bar too far forward. extreme poor form. I have a locked up upper back and right shoulder I’ve been trying to fix forever. A boring story. I thought I might have to submit a score of zero for the Thruster. Put it in god’s hands and took off into part A of the workout. Felt sluggish and heavy on the runs and pull-ups and basically just grateful to move. Long and short, managed a 55 pound Thruster. Warmed up from burpee pull-ups and run I was able to lock the bar out overhead for a countable rep, not the prettiest, but it did the job. Walked home from gym relieved.

Touch #216 Thruster top gym lift. Bar on its way down after successful hoist.

I was back in the gym Saturday morning. Workout of the Day for all was 23.2. Great displays of strength and cardio from the masses. Women' hitting 95 - 140 pounds on the Thrusters after charging around crushing pull-ups and shuttle runs. The guys hauling ass. Intermural team challenge was a parade around the block which was really funny to witness. Teams were so creative and had great spirit. In total I was in the gym for 5 hours and engaged in not one scrap of exercise. This is what happens and why my fitness has suffered. Once, I was in the gym for 10 hours with no workout to be had. Seriously. I had the intent to workout Saturday after my PT clients but had to move on to sorting out the scoring system for the Intermural Comp with another coach and then got caught up in watching and cheering on last heats. I find it impossible to workout with people competing around me. Must watch. Such is the life of a fan.

Hard Rock closing out day with top women’s lift at 140 lbs.
