How does one grow stronger by day? By acting with kindness, caring, compassion, focus and diligence . It is not an easy road, this thing called life! Some areas of our lives will need more attention than others. How we eat, sleep, think, exercise and relate to others all play an integral role in our health and our ability get stronger by day. As a healthcare social worker for over twenty years, I have witnessed first-hand the difference a fit body and mind makes in helping one prevent or recover from illness or care for a loved one.  I know the difficulties people face when trying to make fitness a priority while juggling multiple other life commitments. Making time for fitness and self care can feel like an uphill battle but with planning and simple, steady steps, repeated consistently you can keep yourself on a path to optimal health and wellness.  

I was not a fit kid, avoided gym class like the plague and sent myself off to a weight-loss camp in high school.  I did not take to fitness until my twenties when I fell in love with the results a good work-out brings to life. As an adult, I’ve quit smoking and chosen to live alcohol free. Habits that were hard to break but well worth the effort. I also know how much better the body feels when fed a nutritious, whole foods based diet. It is not easy to say no to sugar and treats but your body will love you for it. I’ve gathered a lot of helpful strategies I can share to help you bullet proof yourself to what life throws your way.   I’ve been there and I’ve got your back!

Small Group Fitness

Our Fit over Forty classes provide participants with a fundamental full-body workoutThink of it as ABC training.  We focus on strengthening A: Arms B: Buns (glutes) and C: Core while also working on cardiovascular conditioning and stamina.  Workouts mix 3-5 movements such as: running, rowing, wall-balls, burpees, box jumps, sled pushes, farmer’s carries, pull-ups, push-ups,  squats, dumbbell floor presses, lunges, thrusters, dumbbells step ups, planks, sit-ups and other mid-line developers.  Repetitions, rounds, weights and movements change per class and are adapted to each person's fitness goals.

Participants use workouts to build their resilience to meet life's daily challenges. Sled pushes make it easier to move furniture; farmer’s carries lessen the rigors of hauling bags of groceries, weighted step-ups assist with carrying laundry upstairs, overhead plate lunges and shoulder presses for tossing suitcase into overhead bin. Planks and squats make it easier to get down and fetch items from under the couch. 

Simple, steady moves performed consistently keep you strong and fit.
