In the Ring

Tossed my hat in the ring and did the Open on this afternoon, 3 hours before the cut-off. As luck would have it The Touch, having left it to wire due to travel, was in the gym at the same time knocking it out. I went from not doing the workout to finding myself in the gym with a firebreather to chase. I took the scaled route. Wanted to see if I could get to the pull-ups. Couldn’t. Touch knocked out 3 muscle ups in the last 30 seconds. If I am honest about why I wasn’t going to do the Open, the true reason, is that I didn’t want to face where my fitness is at. Fed-up with working out at half mast. I had to give my head a shake, focus on the can-do and unite with my fellow scalers. Also, I love testing out scaled WODs as it is a close to the RX stimulus as I can get. Opportunity seized. In the end, it was fun. Does my heart break a bit for the lost strength and fitness of the last 3+ years. Yes. But, you can be crushed by these experience or simply get up and back in the ring. Two to go!

An observation. The gym was in full use all of Family Day. The lights went on around 7:30 am if not earlier via owner, and stayed on with various people engaged in acts of fitness until I shut them off after 8pm. There was never a dull moment! Not bad Westside Vancouver!
