Kicking It

Eugene marathon with Bird 2011. Pre-CrossFit.

CanWest Training today. Workout was a 15 minute amrap of 3 wall walks and 50 double unders. Increase wall walks by 2 every round. What fun! I had an eye appointment and was not going to stay for the session but when the workout went on the board I knew I could squeak it in and still make it to get eyes checked. I would so love to be able to do a wall walk and doubles. It is heartbreaking. I had to at least try. Wishing won’t do it. Someone will always be the “worst” in a room in a training session. Worst, is not the kindest descriptor, least developed is a better. I occupy that role in this group. I believe it has been suggested by someone out there that to get better you should seek out experiences where you are the beginner in the room. |If you want to get somewhere, surround yourself with people who have what you want. That philosophy. What would it be like to be the best or even half best at this stuff? I’m not talking about being a games athlete, just a mom in a local CrossFit gym who excels at workouts. You should see what these women can do in this gym! How fun that would be? Maybe it wouldn’t be as fun as I think but at least I’d be relieved of the struggle. And that would kick ass.

Mindset

How to aspire and not get lost in the process:

“Water the flowers, not the weeds.”

Imagine your vision being a water hose.
And wherever your attention goes, you water.
Because whatever we end up watering… grows.

Every day, we are going to spend our water (our thoughts)on something. And there is a finite amount that we get to spend. If we choose to spend it on the weeds, those thoughts will grow stronger. Purely for the visualization, imagine gossip, and where that takes us.

Check in with ourselves today.
Are we watering the flowers, or the weeds?

Focus on what you can do and invest in blinders.
